Board a ferry boat for a leisurely cruise through the canal or travel the Panama Canal Railway train for a coast to coast trip across the Continental Divide. Panama City...the most lively capitol city in Central America boasts a mix of modern and colonial architecture complete with colorful history and stories.
Cartagena A fairy-tale city of romance, legends and sheer beauty, Cartagena de Indias is an addictive place that can be hard to escape. Stroll through Cartagena's maze of cobbled alleys, where enormous balconies are shrouded in bougainvilla and massive churches cast their shadows across leafy plazas. The city boasts massive fortifications dating from the early 1600s as protection from pirates. Take time out to relax at one of Cartagena's many open-air cafés, prime viewing spots to watch the parade of horse-drawn carriages, fashionable locals and mystified tourists. When the bustling city gets too much, you can always escape to the nearby Islas de Rosario.
Puerto Limon Costa Rica...which means "rich coast"...is known for its natural beauty and wildlife. Here you can soar through the treetops on a rainforest canopy tour or cruise the Tortugero jungle canals in a Mawamba boat with the chance to see sloths, howler monkeys, crocodiles and exotic birds such as toucans and macaws.
